It is a  wet day here today in Bandon and quite breezy too. Still what can we do? We can’t control the weather mores the pity. Anyway to make the day a bit better here are some items I have knitted and crocheted a while back. The first picture is a child’s cardigan. I love this as it is knitted in one piece up to the armholes, I also like the pattern in it. I used 100% wool so it is nice and warm. The second is wool from Aldi. It is a lemon sparkle yarn and so easy to knit. I like the scallop edging on the neck and one button. The the next is something completely different, a crocheted owl. Some of my friends would tell you I love owls, and so of course I had to crochet one. They can be made in any colour which makes it fun really. Then we have the last picture which is my Christmas wreath which is always on my door only at Christmas!!, I decided to make a frosted looking wreath, so I used a grey sparkle and white sparkle wool, and knitted holly leaves and berries and I think it looks really good. That is all for today, so I hope you like these. It has started raining again so there is only one thing to do and that is to get back to the knitting. Talk to you all again soon. Enjoy your weekend whatever you may be doing.

Candle Holder   Leave a comment

I really enjoyed making these little tea light holders. They are made from beading wire, gauge 28. It was a bit hard to do at first as I had never used wire before to crochet with and actually didn’t know that you could crochet with wire. So it just goes to show, nothing is impossible. I think they would look nice outside on a wall if you were having a barbecue. I made them in purple and teal colours. I would love your feedback.

The cream bag is an Aran wool bag. The flap is moss stitch with a tassel. The main body of the bag has cables. On the back there are 2 straps so you can wear the bag on your back. The other bag is made of squares and the pattern is the African flower. The handles are plastic. both bags are lined. The dolls are Morag and Bertie Bloomer. I was really proud of Bertie as I entered him into Skibbereen show which was in July and he won 1st prize. I have since sold him. Morag has also been sold to the same person who bought Bertie. Then I have Olaf the Snowman which I really enjoyed crocheting. He is made in one piece. My gorgeous grandson has him. The rest of the things are baby clothes. Crochet StarHello everyone,

On the right is something different for you. It is a crochet star. It is done in trebles and double crochet. It is very easy to do and it could be used for Christmas decorations or put on top of a Christmas tree. You could also stiffen it by dissolving 15 teaspoons of sugar in 1/3 cup of very hot water. You then wait for a little while for the water to cool then immerse the item into the syrup, gently squeeze out excess and let it dry flat. When it is completely dry what you could then do is stiffen it permanently by spreading a clear glue over it, something like PVA craft glue, which is what i did with another star and it looks really good. I also did one in fine crochet thread (its like sewing thread!!)

So there you have it, something different. I hope you enjoyed this, so until the next time, happy knitting or crochet.

Hi everyone. I hope you have all been busy knitting since I was last with you? Anyway on the right is a knitted shawl which I knitted for a friend of mine. I started it on Saturday and finished it yesterday. The wool which was used was King Cole cotton bamboo. It was done on 9mm needles. You start off with 2 stitches and then increase in the next stitch, you then have 3 stitches and you keep on like that more or less until you have 121 stitches. It looks like mesh but it was great to do. I thought it would be heavy when it was finished but surprisingly it is light.

On the right is a crochet bag. There are 16 squares altogether which are sewn together to form 2 panels of 8. The handles are done by crocheting up the sides then doing 70 chain then picking up stitches down the other side. The side panels are crocheted separately by doing 24 chain the doing double crochet into each stitch until it measures the same as the squares, the panels are then sewn on and 3 or 4 rows are crocheted along the top to finish off. This took me 3 evenings to do. It is better to line the bag because if you didn’t and you happened to use it for shopping, the bag would be dragging along the ground!!!So there you have it, you have all been treated today to knitting and crochet, so until the next time enjoy.
